NZSki is the owner and operator of three distinctively different South Island ski areas; Coronet Peak, Mt Hutt and The Remarkables. Collectively they offer a complete New Zealand snow experience and have a reputation as being among some of New Zealand’s best visitor attractions.

Below you will find media kits for all three mountains - Coronet Peak, Mt Hutt and The Remarkables. We operate a media famil program directly with media as well as through our regional tourism organisations and Tourism New Zealand. For all media requests please email our PR & Partnerships Advisor.

About NZSki
NZSki operates three ski areas situated in the Southern Alps of the South Island - Coronet Peak, Mt Hutt and The Remarkables.
NZSki is locally owned by Trojan Holdings Limited and is part of a wider business with a strong record of sustainable tourism development with operations also encompassing Aoraki / Mt Cook and the Milford and Routeburn tracks.
Development of commercial ski activities started in the Southern Lakes in 1947 with the construction of a tow rope at Coronet Peak so locals could head up and enjoy the new winter activity of skiing.
In the late 1960s it was decided a second ski area in Queenstown was needed to cope with demand and by 1985 The Remarkables Ski Area was opened. There were various owners before local Queenstown family, the Davies, purchased NZSki from Air New Zealand in 2002.
Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are located in Queenstown, New Zealand’s premier four-season alpine resort destination. Mt Hutt is situated in Methven, 75 minutes from Christchurch and is the leading ski area in the Canterbury region.

The Remarkables is located in the adventure capital of the world, Queenstown, New Zealand. The Remarkables is a welcoming, adventurous ski area boasting three sun-drenched bowls and up to seven terrain parks. Known for being one of the best mountains for progression, the ski area offers a range of terrain to suit everyone. Coronet Peak Trade & Media Kit
Coronet Peak, located in Queenstown, New Zealand, was the country's first commercial ski field, providing good times since 1947. The mountain is Queenstown's urban playground, only 20 minutes from downtown along a sealed road. Guests are treated to freshly groomed trails during First Tracks from 8am daily right through to Night Skiing on Wednesdays, Fridays and some Saturday nights until 9pm. Mt Hutt Trade & Media Kit
Officially New Zealand's Best Ski Resort for the seventh year in a row,* Mt Hutt is our big friendly mountain with some of the most consistent snowfall in the country delivering a long, white season. As well as genuine Kiwi hospitality guests can enjoy wide groomed slopes, top to bottom terrain parks and some of the best off-piste skiing around. Filming and photography on our mountains
To film, fly drones or shoot imagery for commercial or media purposes at The Remarkables ski area you need to obtain permission from the Ski Area Manager and the Department of Conservation (DoC). You will need provisional permission from our Ski Area Manager before applying for the DoC permit. Coronet Peak
- Targeted winter opening date: 16 June 2023 with potential to open earlier if snow conditions permit
- Anticipated winter closing date: Sunday 24 September 2023
- Elevation: 1649m, 462m vertical drop
- Skiable Area: 280 hectares
- Lifts: 2 high-speed six-seater chairs (one with Gondola cabins), 1 high-speed quad chair, 1 T-bar, 4 surface conveyor lifts
- 2x Restaurants and 2x bars on the mountain
- Average snowfall: 1.99 metres per annum (excl. snowmaking)
- Snowmaking: 211 fixed guns, and 7 portable for extensive coverage top to bottom
- Terrain: approx. 14% learners, 33% intermediate, 25% advanced, 27% Expert
- Access: 18km sealed road, just 20 minutes from Queenstown
- Transport: Multiple daily bus services on Ski Bus from the Snow Centre in Central Queenstown
- Childcare/licensed early learning centre: Skiwiland for children aged 3–5 years
- Kids under 5 ski for free
- Night Ski on Wednesday & Friday 21 June – 1 September and the three school holiday Saturdays in July.

The Remarkables

- Elevation: 1943m, 468m vertical drop
- Skiable Area:385 hectares
- Lifts: 2 high-speed six-seater chair, 2 quad chairs, 4 surface conveyor lifts including a double-covered conveyor
- Restaurant, Cafe, 2x Bars
- Terrain: 30% beginner, 40% intermediate, 30% advanced
- Average Snowfall: 3.67m per annum (excl. snowmaking)
- Snowmaking: Extensive automated system comprising 148 guns covering beginners’ area, Alta Green, Casterway, Gotham City, Curvey, Turquoise, Waterfall, and terrain parks
- 7x terrain parks including beginner, medium and large lines, and the Burton Stash
- Access: 28km, 40min from Queenstown (10k sealed and 3 km unsealed access road)
- Kids under 5 ski for free
- Shuttles: Multiple daily services on the Snowbus from the Snow Centre in central Queenstown
- Sledding will be available in our Snow Play Zone with toboggan/sled rental available on the mountain
- Operating Hours: Daily from 9am - 4pm
Mt Hutt
- Targeted opening date: 9 June 2023
- Anticipated Closing Date: 15 October 2023

- Skiable Area: 365 hectares
- Lifts: 1 six-seater chair, 1 eight-seater chair, 1 triple chair, 2 learner conveyors
- 2 Restaurants, Cafe, 2 Bars
- Groomed Terrain: 11% beginner / 37% intermediate / 27% adv. intermediate / 20% advanced / 5% park
- Average Snowfall: 4m per annum (excl. snowmaking)
- Snowmaking: 27 hectares
- Children programs: for 3months up to 17 years old
- Kids under 5 ski for free
- Access: 26km/35 minutes from Methven
- Operating Hours: Daily from 9am - 4pm
- Sledding will be available in our Snow Play Zone with toboggan/sled rental available on the mountain
- First Tracks 8am to 9am Sat/Sun from 1 July.
